Recovering the Trend Micro Safe Lock Intelligent Manager

In the event of database corruption, this procedure can help recover the Trend Micro Safe Lock Intelligent Manager (SLIM).

To recover the corrupted Safe Lock database:

  1. Create a backup of the SLIM server configuration files and certificates.
  2. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, and uninstall the existing Safe Lock Intelligent Manager.
  3. Once the uninstallation is completed, reboot the server.
  4. On the SQL Server Management Studio, delete the corrupted Safe Lock database.
  5. Download the Safe Lock Intelligent Manager from Trend Micro Download Center.
  6. Install the Safe Lock Intelligent Manager using the same IP address as the old Safe Lock Intelligent Manager.
  7. Restore the SLIM server certificate.
  8. Modify the SLIM server configuration file.
    1. On the SLIM server, navigate to the SLIM server installation directory C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Safe Lock Intelligent Manager\.
    2. Edit the config.xml file and change the values of the API key and certificate parameters with the values from the backup config.xml file.

      <DevicePairingCode>XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX</DevicePairingCode>

      <Certificate>
      <subjectname>XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX</subjectname>
      <friendlyname>TrendMicro-XXX-XX-XX XX:XX:XX</friendlyname>
      <thumbprint>[Edit the value]</thumbprint>
  9. Restore the Safe Lock agent installer certificates and configuration files.
  10. Restart the Safe Lock agent service to re-register the agent to the Safe Lock Intelligent Manager.
    1. Log in to the agent and open a command prompt.
    2. Run the following command to navigate to the Safe Lock agent directory:
      cd "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Safe Lock"
    3. Execute the following commands to restart the Safe Lock agent service and test SLIM server registration:
      SLCmd.exe –p <SL_agent_Password> stop service
      SLCmd.exe start service
      SLCmd.exe –p <SL_agent_Password> test mm
