In Red Hat 8, the VLGothic font is replaced by Google Noto font, which causes the setup wizard of DSM to become garbled. This issue only occurs when installing the DSM with Japanese language on Red Hat 8 Desktop
The workarounds are to either install DSM silently, or install the VLGothic font. Follow these steps before proceeding to DSM installation.
- Download the font rpm at CentOS official rpm packages.
- Run the following command to install the rpm package which is downloaded in Step 1:
$sudo rpm -i vlgothic-fonts-20130607-2.el7.src.rpm
