How to Generate a Best Practice Guide Report for Apex One or OfficeScan

This article shows how to run a Compliance Report (Also known as Best Practice Guide tool) to generate a customized report for Apex One or OfficeScan XG. This tool will review the Apex One or OfficeScan XG configuration and highlight if any of the Trend Micro recommended settings are missing to help optimize the environment security posture.

Additionally, running this tool in Office Scan XG, will show also the recommended upgrade requirements to our latest endpoint protection solution Apex One.

This tool requires read-access account permission to the SQL Database in order to successfully extract OfficeScan/Apex One DB information from the SQL Server. For the purpose of KB article, the extraction tool was run on a Windows server hosting an OfficeScan XG Build 1556 server.
  1. Log in to the Trend Micro Customer Support Portal.
  2. Choose New Request.
  3. Within the New Request page, choose a Product Profile from the dropdown list. In this example, we will select OfficeScan as the Product Profile.

    You may need to update or add a product profile.

    Tick the Compliancy Report radio button.

  4. Download the Extraction Tool and save it to your existing OfficeScan server.

  5. Unzip and execute the ExtractionTool_v4.0.exe, further instructions are included in the README.txt. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete.

  6. After a few minutes, it will complete the compliancy scan of your OfficeScan server. It will create a zipped folder. For example:
  7. Upload this zipped folder to the New Request webpage form from earlier. Click Submit.

  8. The Request Sent pop-up message will appear informing you that a new Support Case has been created, including the case number.

  9. The status of the support case can be checked in MySupport > Support Requests.

  10. Once the report has been been generated you will receive an email to indicate that it is available for download and review.


  11. The report in PDF file can be found under Support Requests > File Attachments.

    The PDF file can be downloaded and reviewed similar to the OSCE_Compliancy_Report generated as an example for this KB article.
