Stellar agents cannot connect to StellarOne when using an IP range the same as StellarOne’s internal IP

Summary

StellarEnforce or StellarProtect agent may encounter connection issues with StellarOne when using an IP range which the same as StellarOne’s interal IP.

The root cause of this issue is that StellarOne uses 172.17.0.0/16 IP or 169.254.0.0/16 range for its internal IP which may create a conflict if the connecting Stellar Agent is on the same IP range.

An update/patch has been released to address this issue and is now available on Trend Micro Download Center for StellarEnforce and StellarProtect. Below are the update/patch files, and their descriptions.
  • txso-1.1-server-b1105.ova
    • OVA file for new Deployment
    • StellarOne default internal IP will be using IP range 169.254.0.0/16.
    • Enable VShell commands for configuring StellarOne internal IP (Docker IP Pool).
  • txso-1-1-server-patch-b1105.acf
    • Upgrade patch for StellarOne 1.1
    • StellarOne default internal IP will still be using IP range 172.17.0.0/16
    • Enable VShell commands for configuring StellarOne internal IP (Docker IP Pool).

Below are the VShell commands that will help you configure StellarOne internal IP (Docker IP Pool).

  • Display StellarOne Internal IP (Docker IP Pool)

    network internal-service-list

  • Configure StellarOne Internal IP (Docker IP Pool) to a different IP Range

    network internal-service-update XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/16

  • Restore StellarOne Internal IP back to default IP Address

    network internal-service-reset
