Exporting System Information needed for Technical Support

Summary

The system information contains the record of the system configuration. This is very helpful for technical support in checking the customer's system.

Public
  1. Right-click the lower left side of your screen to see the Power User Menu.

  2. Click Run.
  3. Type “msinfo32” in the Open field, then click OK.

    Type msinfo32

    This will open the System Information window.
  4. Click File > Export.  

    Click File then Export

  5. Provide a file name, then click Save.

    Click Save

    The Refreshing System Information window will appear.

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. In the Search box, type in “msinfo32” then press ENTER.

    The Refreshing System Information window will appear.

    Wait for the System Information window to open.
  3. Click File > Export.

    Click File then click Export

  4. Provide a name and save it as System Information File (*.txt).

    Provide a file name

  5. Click Save.
  1. Open the System Information window. Do any of the following:
    • From the Run window:
      1. Go to Start > Run. This will open the Run window.
      2. Type "msinfo32" in the Open field, then click OK.
    • From Accessories:
      1. Go to Start > All Programs> Accessories.
      2. Click System Tools > System Information.

    You will see the following in the Microsoft System Information window:

    • System Summary
    • + Hardware Resources
    • + Components
    • + Software Environment
    • + Internet Explorer
  2. Click System Summary.
  3. Go to File > Export.
  4. Provide a name and save it as System Information File (*.txt).
  1. Open the System Information window. Do any of the following:
    • From the Run window:
      1. Go to Start > Run. This will open the Run window.
      2. Type "msinfo32" in the Open field, then click OK.
    • From Accessories:
      1. Go to Start > All Programs> Accessories.
      2. Click System Tools > System Information.

    • + Hardware Resources
    • + Components
    • + Software Environment
    • + Internet Explorer
  2. Click System Summary.
  3. Go to File > Save as.
  4. Provide a name and save it as System Information File (*.txt).

      2. Type "msinfo32" or "winmsd" in the Open field, then click OK.
    • From Accessories:
      1. Go to Start > Programs> Accessories.
      2. Click System Tools > System Information.
    You will see the following in the Microsoft System Information window:
    • System Information
    • System Summary
    • + Hardware Resources
    • + Components
    • + Software Environment
    • + Internet Explorer
  2. Click System Information.
  3. Go to Action > Save as System Information File.
  4. Provide a name and save it as System Information File (*.txt).
  1. Open the System Information window. Do the following:
    1. Go to Start > Run. This will open the Run window.
    2. Type "msinfo32" in the Open field, then click OK.

    You will see the following in the Help and Support window:

    • System Information
    • + Hardware Resources
    • + Components
    • + Software Environment
    • + Internet Explorer
  2. Click System Summary.
  3. Go to File > Save as.
  4. Provide a name and save it as System Information File (*.txt).
  1. Open the System Information window. Do the following:
    1. Go to Start > Run. This will open the Run window.
    2. Type "msinfo32" in the Open field, then click OK.

    You will see the following in the Microsoft System Information window:

    • System Information
    • + Hardware Resources
    • + Components
    • + Software Environment
  2. Click System Summary.
  3. Go to File > Save as.
  4. Provide a name and save it as MSInfo File (*.txt).

You can also use the Case Diagnostic Tool (CDT) to collect information needed by Trend Micro Technical Support.
