To resolve the issue:

  1. Under the Domino executable directory (\Domino), open the notes.ini file.
  2. Make sure that the "EXTMGR_ADDINS=SMDext" entry exists.

    If the entry does not exist, do the following:

    1. Open the notes.ini file using a text editor such as Notepad.
    2. Add the "EXTMGR_ADDINS=SMDext" entry.
    3. Save the changes.
    4. Run the command “load smdreal” on the Domino console to load ScanMail for Domino.
 
After adding “EXTMGR_ADDINS=”, it is recommended to restart the Domino server to ensure that the new extension manager is active for all Domino tasks.
