This article shows you how to install ServerProtect for EMC Celerra (SP-EMC) servers and common troubleshooting tips.
To install and troubleshoot SP-EMC:
- Create a domain user with EMC virus-checking rights.
- Determine which Data Mover interface to use when creating the local group.
- Create a domain user account (antivirus user).
- Create a local group on each Data Mover in the domain and add the antivirus user to the group.
- Assign EMC virus-checking rights to the local group.
- Assign local administrative rights to the local group on each antivirus server.
- Configure virus-checking parameters on the Data Movers. Configure the viruschecker.conf file on the Data Mover.
- Open the viruschecker.conf file using a text editor.
- Locate the addr entry.
- Add the IP addresses of all Windows 2000/Windows NT servers running CAVA software. These are the servers running SPEMC. Use colons to separate multiple Windows 2000/Windows NT server IP addresses.
For example:- For a single Windows 2000/Windows NT server:
addr=192.01.01.01 - For multiple Windows 2000/Windows NT servers:
addr=192.01.01.02:192.01.01.03:192.01.01.04
For multiple server installations, the UNCs are sent in a round-robin fashion to all Windows 2000/Windows NT servers configured with CAVA and the antivirus engine. - For a single Windows 2000/Windows NT server:
- Save and close the viruschecker.conf file.
- Install CAVA on the Windows AV servers.
- Install SP EMC-Celerra.
- Start the virus-checking client on the Data Mover.
Start the VC client on the Data Mover using the following command syntax:
$ server_setup <movername> -P viruschk -o start
where <movername> is the name of the specified Data Mover.
For example, $ server_setup server_2 -P viruschk -o startThere are instances that a message like RPC Error from checker xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. appears if CAVA is not running on a Windows server in the domain. If this occurs, get a screenshot of this error message. - Verify the CAVA installation.
- Display the virus checker using this command syntax:
$ server_viruschk { <movername> | ALL }
For example, $ server_viruschk server_2
Get a copy of the output. - Test ServerProtect with a test virus (eicar) and then run the following command:
$ server_viruschk { <movername> | ALL } -audit
For example, $ server_viruschk server_2 -audit
Get a copy of the output. - Check the Services window of the virus checker and make sure that CAVA has been started.
- If you encounter issues in the installation/communication between EMC and the virus checker:
Get a copy of the following:- Application (and System) event logs from the Virus checker (The Scan Server)
- Output from steps 5 and 6.
Send these logs to Trend Micro Technical Support.
- Display the virus checker using this command syntax:
