Manually uninstalling InterScan Messaging Security Suite (IMSS) for Windows

Summary
Uninstall IMSS manually when you encounter any of the following scenarios:
  • When the uninstallation procedure using the Setup wizard cannot be started or is failing to remove the installed components
  • You need to be sure that all installed components of IMSS are removed and the target host machine is cleaned.
  • You intend to reinstall IMSS after removing all the previous components. This is done for broken installations or when you want to upgrade to the next version by completely removing the current installation.

To uninstall:
  1. Stop all the following IMSS services:
    • Trend Micro IMSS CMAgent Service
    • Trend Micro IMSS End User Quarantine Console
    • Trend Micro IMSS EUQ Load Balancer
    • Trend Micro IMSS IPProfiler
    • Trend Micro IMSS Manager
    • Trend Micro IMSS Policy Service
    • Trend Micro IMSS Scan Service
    • Trend Micro IMSS SMTP Service
    • Trend Micro IMSS Task Service
    • Trend Micro IMSS Web Console
  2. Delete the following registry entries:
    1. Open the Registry Editor.
      Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    2. Delete the following entries:
      • Under the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE:
        For 32-bit OS:
        • \TrendMicro\ISNT7
        • \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
        • \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
        For 64-bit OS:
        • \Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\ISNT7
        • \Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
        • \Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
      • Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer:
        • \Products\5CC8FB21E8F9B9A46B5E803C83FC6691
        • \Features\5CC8FB21E8F9B9A46B5E803C83FC6691
      • Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer:
        • \Products\5CC8FB21E8F9B9A46B5E803C83FC6691
        • \Features\5CC8FB21E8F9B9A46B5E803C83FC6691
      • Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\:
        • TmImssAdminUI
        • TmImssCMAgent
        • TmImssEuqLoadBalancer
        • TmImssEuqUI
        • TmImssIpprofiler
        • TmImssManager
        • TmImssMTA
        • TmImssPolicy
        • TmImssScan
        • TmImssTasks
  3. Go to Start > All Programs > Startup and then delete Status Monitor.
  4. Reboot the machine.
  5. Remove the following IMSS folders:
    Note: The entire Trend Micro folder can be deleted if there are no other products installed in that same directory.
    For 32-bit OS:
    • C:\Imss7InstLog
    • C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\IMSS
    • C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
    For 64-bit OS:
    • C:\Imss7InstLog
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\IMSS
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{12BF8CC5-9F8E-4A9B-B6E5-08C338CF6619}
  6. Delete all the IMSS shortcuts from the Start > All Programs  menu and the computer desktop.
    Note: The above steps do not remove the IMSS 7.5 Admin and EUQ database. You need to drop them manually from database management console if you do not need them.
