"Error 403" appears when logging on to the Security Server web console of Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS)

You cannot access the security dashboard or console.

When you check the Internet Information Services (IIS) logs, you see the following entries:

The issue occurs when the OfficeScan (OSCE) or WFBS server is installed on a Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6.0.

To resolve the issue, create a new Application Pool and configure it to be used in the OSCE webpage.

Do the following:

  1. Open the IIS Manager.
  2. On the left pane, select the Application Pools folder.
  3. Right-click on the right pane, then click New > Application Pool. The Add New Application Pool window appears.

  4. Type "OfficeScan-Pool" in the Application Pool ID field.

  5. On the left pane, expand the Application Pools folder.
  6. Right-click OfficeScan-Pool then select Properties. The OfficeScan-Pool Properties window appears. IIS Manager
  7. Click the Identity tab.
  8. For the Predefined option, select Local System from the dropdown list. OfficeScan-Pool Properties
  9. Click OK.
  10. Restart the IIS Admin Service.
  11. Log on to the OSCE or WFBS web console.
