"Error 403" appears when logging on to the Security Server web console of Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS)

You cannot access the security dashboard or console.

When you check the Internet Information Services (IIS) logs, you see the following entries:

The issue occurs when the OfficeScan (OSCE) or WFBS server is installed on a Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6.0.


To resolve the issue, create a new Application Pool and configure it to be used in the OSCE webpage. To create a new Application pool, follow the steps below based on the IIS version that you are using below:

  1. Open the IIS Manager.
  2. On the left pane, select the Application Pools folder.
  3. Right-click on the right pane, then click New > Application Pool. The Add New Application Pool window appears.

  4. Type "OfficeScan-Pool" in the Application Pool ID field.

  5. On the left pane, expand the Application Pools folder.
  6. Right-click OfficeScan-Pool then select Properties. The OfficeScan-Pool Properties window appears. IIS Manager
  7. Click the Identity tab.
  8. For the Predefined option, select Local System from the dropdown list. OfficeScan-Pool Properties
  9. Click OK.
  10. Restart the IIS Admin Service.
  11. Log on to the OSCE or WFBS web console.
  1. Open the IIS Manager.
  2. On the left pane, right-click Application Pools, then click Add Application Pool. The Add Application Pool window appears.

  3. Type “OfficeScan-Pool” in the Name field. Leave other fields as default.

  4. On the Feature setting pane, right-click OfficeScan-Pool, then select Advanced Settings.
  5. On the Advanced Settings window, click Identify, select Local System, then click OK.

  6. Expand the site, right-click OfficeScan, then go to Manage Web Site > Advanced Settings, and change the application pool to OfficeScan-Pool. This will apply the newly created Application Pool.
  7. Restart the IIS Admin Service.
  8. Log on to the WFBS web console.
