By default, HES/HES - Inbound Filtering AD Sync Client searches for an object class "User" and its three attributes:
  • displayName
  • mail
  • proxyAddresses
To enable the AD Sync client to query Distribution Lists, public folders, or addresses:
  1. Open the .. \Trend Micro\HES Active Directory Sync Client\ IMHS_AD_ACL.config file.
  2. Look for the following entries:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <ad_acl>
         <ldap_path name="default">
              <objectClass name="User">
              <displayNameAttr>displayName</displayNameAttr>
              <emailAttr>mail</emailAttr>
              <emailAttr>proxyAddresses</emailAttr>
              </objectClass>
    </ad_acl>
  3. Insert the following lines before </ldap_path>:
    <objectClass name=" ">
         <displayNameAttr>displayName</displayNameAttr>
         <emailAttr>mail</emailAttr>
         <emailAttr>proxyAddresses</emailAttr>
         </objectClass>
  4. Set the value for "object class name" to one of the following:
    • "group" - AD Sync client will query Distribution Lists
    • "publicFolder" - AD Sync client will query public folders
    • "*" - The asterisk symbol enables AD Sync Client to query all
    Note: To identify the correct object class name to use, open Object properties in Active Directory:
    Object properties in active directory
  5. Save the changes and close the file.
