Whitelisting an IP address from "sender domain from" checking of the relay service of Hosted Email Security (HES)

Summary
This article tells you how an IP address is whitelisted so that it will not be included in the "sender domain from" checking done by the relay service of HES.
Note: Mail forwarding to an external address does not work when an outbound mail was scanned by HES.

To prevent open-relay customers from compromising HES relay servers, HES relay MTA will no longer accept and forward mails from senders who use non-registered domain(s) in the sender from email address.
When HES relay servers receive an email from a customer, HES checks if the sender domain (which is taken from the envelope "mail from") matches the relay domain ACL and does the following:
  • If yes, HES receives the mail for scanning and forwards it to the intended recipient.
  • If not, HES rejects the email and sends back a permanent error.
Note: Only HES with outbound scanning is affected by this new feature.
To request your outbound MTA IP address to bypass "sender from" checking for all domains, contact Trend Micro Technical Support and submit the following:
  • Company name
  • Requestor’s name, email address and contact number
  • IMHS account name
  • Valid HES activation code
  • IP address/es of your Outbound MTA/s
  • An explanation why the outgoing "mail from" must be different from the list of managed domains registered under HES.
