Exclude a process from Web Reputation Service (WRS) when WRS causes communication issues with third-party web applications.
The issue normally occurs due to a third-party application or process trying to communicate with a web server. The TMPROXY service, however, catches this HTTP request and is unable to pass this information onto the web server.
To resolve the issue, choose your product version below and follow the steps:
- Stop the TMProxy service.
- Open the Registry Editor. Always create a backup before modifying the registry. Incorrect registry changes may cause serious issues. Should this occur, restore it by referring to the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.
- Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\NSC\TmProxy\WhiteList]. For newer operating systems like Windows 8, 8.1, 2012 & newer, set the exclusions in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\Osprey\WhiteList - Set the value of the following key:
DWORD Value: UseWhiteList
Value: 00000001 - Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\NSC\TmProxy\WhiteList\WhiteList-Item1].
- Set the value of the following key:
String Value: ProcessImageName
Value: process name - Close the Registry Editor.
- Start the TMProxy service.
- Open the Security Server console.
- Go to Preferences > Global Settings.
- Go to the Select Desktop/Server tab.
- Locate Web Reputation and URL Filtering Exclusion settings:
- Type a process name in the field provided, and then click Add.
