Know the default scanning areas that are pre-scanned before the WFBS client is installed. This ensures that it is safe to install an antimalware or security product in the machine.

Public

When you install the WFBS client using Remote Install, internal web page, or the Client Packager, a prescan is initiated on the target computer. This prescan uses the virus pattern file of the WFBS Server, and has the following settings:

Scanned directories

  • Boot area/boot directory
  • System folder (\WINDOWS, etc.)
  • Program Files folder

Scanned file extensions

  • .SYS
  • .COM
  •  .EXE
  • .DOC
  •  .DOT
  •  .XLS

Scan action order

The order is Clean > Encrypt and rename > Delete > Pass.

 
After installing the WFBS client, performing an update and then run a full scan to remove any threats that were not detected by the prescan.
