Performing an automatic update of the scan engine in InterScan Messaging Security Suite (IMSS) 7.1

Summary

Update or rollback the scan engine for IMSS automatically.

Automatic Update

To perform an automatic update:

  1. Log on to the IMSS web console.
  2. Go to Administration > Updates > Schedule tab.
    You may also click any links in the Update Schedule column of the Summary Page.
  3. On the Schedule tab, go to the Update Component section and tick the Scan Engine check box.
  4. Select the preferred time of the update in the Update Schedule section.
  5. Click Save.

To peform an update immediately via web console:

  1. On the web console Summary, go to the Components section.
  2. Select Scan Engine, and then click Update.
  3. Wait for a pop-up message indicating a successful update, and check if the Current Version used by IMSS is the same as the latest version under the Availability column.
Rollback

To perform a rollback:

  1. Log on to the IMSS web console.
  2. On the Summary page, select Scan Engine, and then click the Rollback button.
  3. If you performed a manual update, do the following:
    1. Stop the scan service.
    2. Replace the backup copy of the scan engine.
    3. Restart the scan service.
