Cannot update the Smart Scan server pattern even if the WFBS 7.0 Smart Scan Service frequently downloads pattern files

"Disk full" causes Smart Scan patterns (*.tbl) to be corrupted. As a result, the Smart Scan server continuously tries to load corrupted patterns and fails.

 
This article applies when Smart Scan server pattern is not updating or is not up to date.

As a workaround, use the TBLPtnImportTool to import new Smart Scan patterns (TBL). This tool is designed to update and roll back to specific Smart Scan pattern versions. When executing this tool, all Smart Scan patterns under the patterns folder on the Integrated Server will be deleted.

 
For Windows 2000, make sure to install the support tool from your Windows 2000 installation CD by browsing to ..\SUPPORT\TOOLS and launching SETUP.exe file before running the TBLPtnImportTool.

Do the following:

  1. Download the TBLPtnImportTool.
  2. Extract the tool to the C:\ drive of the WFBS server.
  3. Copy the latest Smart Scan pattern from ..\PCCSRV\wss\patterns\TBL to the ..TBLPattern folder. A sample folder path for this is C:\TBLPtnImportTool\TBLPattern.
  4. Open a command prompt window and go to C:\TBLPtnImportTool\WSS.
  5. Run the following command:

    WSS_ImportTBL.bat.
