Know what to do when the DSM remote upgrade reports that the Firewall and/or Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) rule engines are offline.
In most cases, this issue is due to another third-party driver that is holding on to the network bindings. The Trend Micro driver cannot unbind properly in order to perform the new driver upgrade.
When this happens, do the following:
- Reboot the machine. This resolves 90% of the cases.
- After rebooting, clear the errors/warnings for that host in DSM and then perform a check status.
If rebooting did not resolve this issue, you need to manually run the installer from the host. The installer is passed down by DSM and is stored in the Deep Security Agent directory. Navigate to the directory and then manually run the installer. This will repair the installer and reinstall the new driver.
