Summary

Manually enable debugging mode on the OfficeScan server or client.

Details
Public

To enable the debug mode for a client, do the following:

  1. Manually create the ofcdebug.ini file in the C:\ folder using a text editor.
  2. Enter the following section and parameters:

    [Debug]
    debuglevel=9
    debugLog=C:\ofcdebug.log
    debugLevel_new=D
    debugSplitSize=10485760
    debugSplitPeriod=12
    debugRemoveAfterSplit=1

  3. Reload the OfficeScan client. Doing so will automatically create the Logserver.exe file in C drive.
  4. Recreate the issue or problem.
  5. Send the ofcdebug.log file in the C:\ drive to Trend Micro Technical Support for analysis

To stop debugging, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the ofcdebug.ini file.
  2. Restart the machine. This will stop debugging and remove the Logserver.exe file on the C drive.

    Make sure to stop debugging after the issue or problem has been recreated. Otherwise, the client will continuously create debug logs even after the client is restarted.

To manually enable debug mode on an OfficeScan server without a client, and without access to the OfficeScan management console, do the following:

  1. Manually create the ofcdebug.ini file in the ...\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Private\LogServer\ folder using a text editor.
  2. Enter the following sections and parameters:

    [Debug]
    debuglevel=9
    debugLog=C:\ofcdebug.log
    debugLevel_new=D
    debugSplitSize=10485760
    debugSplitPeriod=12
    debugRemoveAfterSplit=1

  3. Double-click Logserver.exe.

    If you are using Windows 2008 or 2008 R2, you need to reboot the machine before starting Logserver.exe.
  4. Recreate the issue or problem.
  5. Stop debugging by closing the command window for Logserver.exe and deleting the ofcdebug.ini file.

If ofcdebug.log was unable to capture the events:

  1. Start Windows' Task Manager.
  2. End the LogServer.exe process.
  3. Run the LogServer.exe process.
