Summary

Transfer clients to a different OSCE domain or server with the Move Agent function in the OSCE server's management console.

Take note of the following OfficeScan server information. You will need them when you move your clients to a different server:

  • New server name or IP address
  • Server listening port

To view the server listening port:

    1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
    2. Go to Administration > Settings > Agent Connection. The port number is displayed on the screen.

Here are other pointers to consider:

  • When moving clients to another OfficeScan server, it will automatically inherit the settings of the parent group or domain. It will not retain its settings from the old OfficeScan server.
  • If you are using NetBIOS grouping and the client is a member of a subgroup or sub-domain of the old server, moving it to the new server will create a group with the same name as the subgroup from the old server.

However, if the new server has the same client tree structure as the old server, then the client will appear on the exact sub-domain.

    Example:

    OSCE Server (old)
    + Group
    + Subgroup
    - Client 1

After moving the client, the client tree will show:

    OSCE Server (new)
    + Group
    + Subgroup
    - Client 1

  • If the OfficeScan clients could not be moved to the new domain or new server via the console settings, then refer to the Related Information section for the articles about the IPXFER command line tool.

Do the following:

  1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
  2. Go to Agent > Agent Management.
  3. Click the Manage Client Tree tab > Move Agent.
  4. Select whether to move client(s) to another domain or move selected client(s) to another OfficeScan server:
    • To move clients to another domain, select Move selected client(s) to another domain, choose the domain from the drop-down list, and decide whether or not to apply the settings of the new domain to the clients.
    • To move the clients to another OfficeScan server, enter the server name and the HTTP port number under Move selected client(s) to another OfficeScan server.
  5. Click Move.
