Disabling Instant Messaging (IM) Content Filtering in Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS)

Choose the procedure that applies to you.

  1. Using Windows Explorer, go to ..\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV.
  2. Open the ofcscan.ini file and go to the [PDP_PRIVATEDATA_INI_SECTION] section.
  3. Look for the parameter "PDPEnable" and change its value to "0".
  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Log in to WFBS server console.
  6. Go to Preferences > Global Settings > Desktop/Server tab.
  7. Click Save to deploy the new settings globally.
  8. Using one of the workstations, manually update the Security Agent.

    1. Right-click the Security Agent icon on the system tray.
    2. Click Update Now.
  9. Check if the IM Content Filtering is now disabled on the Security Agent console.

    Disabling IM Content Filtering

  1. Unload the Security Agent.
    1. Right-click the Security Agent icon on the system tray.
    2. Click Exit Worry-Free Business Security.
  2. Open the Registry Editor.

     
    Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
  3. If you are using WFBS 7.0, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\UniClient\1600\PDP.

    If you are using WFBS 9.0 or 8.0, go to:

    • For x64 OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\PrivacyProtection
    • For x86 OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\PrivacyProtection
  4. Look for the registry key "Enabled" and change its value to "0".
  5. Close the Registry Editor.
  6. If you are using WFBS 7.0, go to the ..\Trend Micro\Client Server Security Agent folder.

    If you are using WFBS 9.0 or 8.0, go to the …\Trend Micro\Security Agent folder.

  7. Open the ofcscan.ini file.
  8. Look for the "PDPEnable" parameter and change its value to "0".
  9. Save and close the file.
  10. Reload the Security Agent.

    1. Right-click the Security Agent icon on the system tray.
    2. Click Worry-Free Business Security Agent.
  11. Restart the computer if the option is not yet present.
