"Admin user-rights are required for installation" appears when performing client remote installation in OfficeScan (OSCE)

Summary

When using Apache web server, and doing a remote install of OfficeScan client, the following error message appears after the target machine is selected and authenticated with an Admin account:

Admin user-rights are required for installation.
Remote registry service is not available on Windows XP Home and Vista Basic clients.

You also verified that the Remote Registry service is running and the Simple File Sharing is disabled.

When you check the ofcdebug.log on the OfficeScan server, the following lines occur:

To install on a remote computer, use an account
with administrator privileges. If the target computer is running Windows
XP Home or Vista Basic, remote installation cannot proceed because there is no remote registry service on these platforms.: serigraph\seritech: - [cgi_RemoteInstall.cpp(204)]

To resolve this issue:

  1. Open the Services console by running "services.msc".
  2. Select the Apache2 service.
  3. Change the Log On As value from "Local System" to a domain Administrator account.
  4. Perform the installation again.
