To install DLP using Dtool.exe:
  1. Copy the DLP directory from any of the following to use it as installation directory:
    • DVD containing the setup package
    • Shared location where the setup package has been copied
The DLP directory tree contains the following:
    • [dir] DLP
    • [file] -- dtool.exe
    • [file] -- PVUSvc.exe
    • [file] -- uninstaller.exe
    • [file] -- updater.exe
    • [sub-dir] -- system32
  2. Open a command prompt and change the directory to installation directory.
  3. Enter the dtool command from the command prompt. Below are the various tool commands and their descriptions:
    • dtool.exe -i -clink_ip=x.x.x.x
Install to a local machine and set the server IP x.x.x.x.
    • dtool.exe -i -clink_ip=x.x.x.x. -sb

Install to a local machine, set the server IP x.x.x.x, and set the dtool.exe password to pwd. The password will be required to run dtool.exe to uninstall the agent. For example, if the password = 123, then type -p123.
Additional Information:
  • Only the domain administrator can perform remote installation.
  • Only the accounts with administrative privilege can install locally.
  • The File and Printer Sharing must be in the exception list in the Microsoft Windows firewall on the target machine before installing or uninstalling the DLP client remotely.
  • The User Account Control is enabled in Windows Vista by default. The DOS or command prompt must be run as the administrator to install or uninstall locally, whether using Dtool or msi.
  • Reboot the target machines after installation/uninstallation. Failure to do so will put the target machine to an unknown state. If you encounter this, execute this command:
    reboot - uninstall - reboot - install - reboot
