Trend Micro SafeSync backs up your emails that are saved and stored in a PST file (Personal Folders file). If you do not have a PST file, you need to create one and pair that file using Trend Micro SafeSync to create a backup.

To create a .PST file while Microsoft Outlook is running, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to File > New > Outlook Data File.
  2. Select any of the following in the Save as type drop down list:
    • Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)
Select this type to create a new Outlook 2003 PST file.
    • Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)
Select this type to create a new Outlook PST file that is compatible with earlier versions of Outlook.
  3. Type a name for your file, and then select where you want to save it.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Select an encryption setting and a password for the .PST file, and then click OK.

You can no longer change the encryption setting after creating the file.

The new .PST file will be added to the Outlook 2003 All Mail Folders list.
