Unable to stop the TMProxy service because some modules are still using it

Summary

You cannot disable TMProxy service as long as modules/services are still using it. Stopping these modules/services will allow you to disable the TMProxy service.

Details
Public

The following services need TMProxy:

  • Smart Feedback Service
  • Web Reputation Services
  • POP3 Service

To disable the services, do the following:

Smart Feedback Service

  1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
  2. Do the following:
    • OfficeScan 11.0: Go to Administration > Smart Protection > Smart Feedback.
    • Other versions: Go to Administration > Smart Protection Network.
  3. Uncheck the Enable Trend Micro Smart Feedback (recommended) check box.
  4. Click Save.

Web Reputation Services

  1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
  2. Do the following:
    • OfficeScan 11.0: Go to Agents > Agent Management.
    • Other versions: Go to Networked Computers > Client Management.
  3. Highlight "OfficeScan server" to disable WRS for all clients or highlight the specific group or clients to disable WRS.
  4. Click Settings > Web Reputation Settings.
  5. Make sure that the enable Web Reputation Policy option is disabled for both External and Internal clients.
  6. Click Save.

POP3 Service

  1. Log on to the OfficeScan management console.
  2. Do the following:
    • OfficeScan 11.0: Go to Agents > Agent Management.
    • Other versions: Go to Networked Computers > Client Management.
  3. Highlight "OfficeScan server" to disable POP3 for all clients or highlight the specific groups or clients to disable POP3.
  4. Click Settings > Privileges and Other Settings > Other Settings.
  5. Disable the Scan POP3 email option.
  6. Click Save.
