Connecting the Smart Protection Server (SPS) to the Endpoint Security Platform (ESP) server

After installing the Smart Protection Servers, you need to install BESAgent on the Smart Protection Servers. This will establish the connection between the ESP server and the Smart Protection Servers. The ESP server will then be able to monitor the status of the Smart Protection Servers.

To install BESAgent on the Smart Protection Server:

Option I: BigFix Deployment Tool

  1. Log in to the SPS server with root privilege.
  2. Execute the script file /usr/tmcss/bin/patchcpm.sh in the SPS servers.
  3. Download the Unix/Linux/Mac Client Deploy Tool.
  4. Follow the Unix/Linux/Mac Client Deploy Tool installation instructions to deploy the BESAgent on the SPS server.

Option II: Manually Installing BESAgent in SPS

  1. Log in to the SPS server with root privilege.
  2. Execute the script file /usr/tmcss/bin/patchcpm.sh in the SPS server.
  3. Download rpm for CentOS 5 to the SPS server.
  4. Use rpm to install BESAgent.
  5. Put the ESP server masthead file to the /etc/opt/BESClient folder.
    The masthead file can be found in the link of the ESP server: http://<ESP Server IP>:52311/masthead/masthead.afxm
  6. Rename "masthead.afxm" to "actionsite.afxm"
  7. Restart BESAgent using this command:
    /etc/init.d/besclient restart
