Summary
When upgrading from WFBS 5.x/6.x, the administrator has the option to either automatically deploy the program upgrade, or to set a delayed upgrade for specific hours and then let the user decide to upgrade immediately (Upgrade Now) or postpone at a later time (Remind Me Later).
Below is the server option to delay the upgrade during the upgrade installation.

Below is the pop-up window on the client side when the administrator set the "Delay Upgrade" option on the server.

However, for the WFBS 7.0 build upgrade to WFBS 7.0 SP1, administrators will not see the "Delay Upgrade" option during the upgrade. This article explains why there is no need for the said option during the build upgrade.

The Delay Upgrade option has two main purposes:
  • It prevents increased intranet traffic during upgrade deployment.
However, WFBS 7.0 will perform the build upgrade via TrendMicro ActiveUpdate, so intranet traffic would be relatively small.
Below is a rough bandwidth comparison between WFBS 7.0 and the lower versions:
    • Intranet traffic for major versions upgrade [WFBS 5.x/6.x] = ~95MB
    • Intranet traffic for 7.0 build upgrade [WFBS 7.0 GM/Repacks] = ~35MB
This lower intranet traffic for WFBS 7.0 eliminates the need for the "Delay Upgrade" option.
  • It reduces interference for customers who perform critical tasks during the server upgrade.
Since a major version upgrade performs several operations due to client program architecture change, the Delay Upgrade was designed to mitigate the resource consumption when the upgrade is to be deployed.
WFBS 7.0 has a lower resource consumption compared to the lower versions, so the "Delay Upgrade" option is no longer necessary.
