Fixing the "Access Denied" error when authenticating to the local LDAP server via InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance (IWSVA) using Microsoft Windows 7

Summary

Despite having an explicit policy configured, you receive an “Access Denied” error while authenticating to the local LDAP server through IWSVA when using Microsoft Windows 7. You may also experience problems surfing the web. 

These issues may be caused by the User IP Cache.

To disable the User IP Cache: 

  1. Log in to the shelf of IWSVA with root privileges using the console or a remote SSH connection.
  2. Type the “su enable” command and press Enter.
  3. On the user privilege mode, type the following command and press Enter:
    configure module ldap ipuser_cache disable

If the steps above did not solve the issue, contact Trend Micro Technical Support. Enable verbose logging before you contact Tech Support to be able to capture the required log files for analysis. Refer to the article Enabling verbose logging mode in InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance (IWSVA) 5.1 & 5.5 for logging instructions.
