Summary
Know why it is not recommended to pair folders on your removable disk in Trend Micro SafeSync.
Details
Public
Pairing folders on a removable disk is not recommended because some files may be deleted from your SafeSync server.
When you remove your removable storage devices from your computer, the following happens:
  1. Trend Micro treats the paired files from your device as deleted.
  2. Trend Micro SafeSync deletes the online versions of your files.
  3. Once you plug in your device again and your sync feature is turned on, Trend Micro SafeSync deletes the copy of the files on your device.
If you pair a folder on one removable disk, un-plug it, and plug in another disk containing a folder with the same name, some files from the first removable disk may be deleted from the server.
Below are examples of removable devices that Trend Micro SafeSync does not recommend pairing:
    • External hard drives
    • iPhones
    • iPads
    • USB drives
