Security for Mac (TMSM) installation hangs on "A plug-in task is in progress. Please wait..."

Summary

When installing the Security for Mac (TSMS) plug-in, the progress bar hangs and the installation does not continue.

Trend Micro Security for Macintosh installation hangs

There is no C:\Tmsm_install.log file created, but there is a TMSM_PreInstall.log file, which shows entries similar to the following:

The log shows that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installation was successful. It is also indicated on the log similar to this:

[12-23-2009 06:05:35][DebugLevel-Info]---Install JRE success
(d:\TMSM_Server_SP1\installshield\TMSforMacintosh\Script Files\Setup.Rul, 439)

To resolve this issue, install the JRE first before starting the TMSM installation.
