What is PolicyServer Windows Service?
The PolicyServer Windows Service is the backbone of the PolicyServer engine. This service allows PolicyServer to communicate with Microsoft Active Directory. It can access the database and retrieve data in response to client requests.
Why does "Unable to Install Server: 1057" error occurs?
The error appears when the credentials are entered while the Local System Account option is enabled.
To resolve the issue, leave the credentials blank when you run the PolicyServer Windows Service under the Local System Account.
Why can't I access PolicyServer Windows Service due to FIPS error?
When you try to start PolicyServer Windows Service, error 1053 in Services.msc appears or the PolicyServer Health Monitor shows the following:
This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic algorithms.
The Microsoft’s IsolatedStorage class uses a non-FIPS hashing function called SHA1Managed. The error occurs when the "System cryptography: Use FIPS 140-2 compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security option is enabled in the Windows security setting. You can access the Windows security setting by navigating to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
To resolve the issue, disable the "System cryptography: Use FIPS 140-2 compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security option.
If the security option cannot be disabled:
  1. Create a text file named PolicyServerWindowService.exe.config in C:\Program Files\Mobile Armor\PolicyServer.
  2. Enter the text below to bypass the security setting and allow PolicyServer to run properly with the security setting enabled.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <configuration>
    <runtime>
    <enforceFIPSPolicy enabled="false"/>
    </runtime>
    </configuration>
