PCMCIA smart card readers
Endpoint Encryption is retiring its support for Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) smart card readers. Thus, you may receive the following error message:
Request to add driver support for ActivCard ZFG-9812-AC PCMCIA smart card reader
Additional PCMCIA smart card reader support will be reviewed as a professional services agreement.
ActivCard USB Reader V2.0
The error message below appears because the ActivCard USB Reader V2.0 is not supported in the pre-boot by default.
Full Disk Encryption pre-boot does not recognize ActivCard USB smart card reader 2.0
The following ActivCard models, which are SCR331 readers in ActivCard shell, can be upgraded to the latest version for them to work with FDE:
Note: If you are not experiencing any issues, it is not recommended to upgrade.
  • ActivCard P/N ZFG-9800-AC
  • ActivCard P/N ZFG-9800-AD
  • ActivCard P/N ZFG-9800GAE
If your environment logs you off from the workstation whenever the card is removed, you must log in as a local administrator to perform this upgrade. If the policy is set to do so, the USB reader is disconnected during the upgrade process which logs you out of the PC.
Dell E series smart card reader
You receive "No Tokens Found" when inserting smart card in E series Dell internal reader. Dell released a firmware that fixes various issues with the card reader. To resolve the error, update the onboard reader to the latest firmware. Contact Dell for the latest firmware upgrade.
Currently, smart cards are only picked up during system startup. Therefore, the smart card must be in the reader prior to FDE boot up.
Aladdin products
Endpoint Encryption no longer support Aladdin products.
