Resolving missing system tray icon for Trend Micro SafeSync

This article shows you what to do when the Trend Micro SafeSync system tray icon disappears. 
This issue is caused by any of the following:
  • Corrupted file
  • Trend Micro SafeSync was not successfully installed

To resolve this issue, uninstall and reinstall Trend Micro SafeSync. Do the following:
  1. Uninstall your Trend Micro SafeSync program. Follow the steps below:
    1. Do either of the following:
      • For Windows XP: Go to Start > All Programs > Trend Micro SafeSync > Uninstall Trend Micro SafeSync.
      • For Windows Vista and Windows 7: Go to the Windows Orb > Programs > Trend Micro SafeSync > Uninstall Trend Micro SafeSync.
    2. Click Uninstall to confirm the uninstallation, then wait for the program to remove all components.
    3. Restart your computer for changes to take effect.
  2. Reinstall your Trend Micro SafeSync. Follow the steps below:
    1. Login to your SafeSync account by going to www.safesync.com.
    2. Click Downloads.

    3. Download Trend Micro SafeSync by following either of the steps below:
      • Click Download Nowafter creating an account.
        Download Now
      • Click Download when you log on to your online storage space.
    4. Do either of the following:
      • Click Run on the File Download window.
      • Save the installer on your desktop, then run it.
        1. Click Save on the File Download window.
        2. Select Desktop as the location, then click Save.
        3. Double-click the installer.
      A Welcome screen appears.
    5. Click Next.
      The License screen appears.
    6. Read the License Agreement. Do either of the following:
      • Tick I accept the agreement, then click Next.
      • Click Cancel to stop the setup.
      The Sign in screen appears.
    7. Type your email address and password, then click Login.
      The Backup Computer screen appears.
      Note: You can click Skip to finish the installation or you can continue to read a brief overview of the product’s features.
    8. Tick the folders that you want to back up.
    9. Click Next, then follow the screen prompts to start backing up and synchronizing your files.
