After the installation of the OfficeScan 10.6 server, the message "Service Unavailable" appears when opening the web management console.
This article resolves the console issue by providing the necessary permissions under Internet Information Services (IIS) settings for OfficeScan's Application Pool and websites.
The "Service Unavailable" message appears because of incorrect permissions in IIS. This issue is resolved by providing the correct permissions in IIS. To do this:
- Open IIS Manager.
- Go to Application Pools > OfficeScanAppPool > Properties.
- Go to the Identity tab.
- Set the Predefined dropdown list to Local System. By default, this is set to Network Service.
- Click Apply, then OK.
- Go to Web Sites > OfficeScan.
- Go to the Home Directory tab.
- Enable Read permissions by checking the Read checkbox. By default, only Log visits and Index this resource are checked.
- Go to Application Settings and make sure that Execute Permissions is set to Scripts and Executables. The default setting is none.
- Click Apply, then OK.
- Access the OfficeScan web management console.
