Blank console appears when managing Security for Macintosh (TMSM) 1.5

Summary
You get a blank console when managing the Trend Micro Security for Macintosh (TMSM). Uninstallation and reinstallation of TMSM does not resolve the problem.
The issue occurs because of files not generated properly during the installation. Below are some errors you will see in the debug.log:

To resolve the issue, you need to manually uninstall TMSM:
  1. Stop the following Trend Micro Security server and Plug-in Manager services from the Microsoft Management Console (services.msc):
    • ActiveMQ for Trend Micro Security [ActiveMQ4TMSM]
    • Trend Micro Security (for Mac) [TMSMMainService]
    • SQL server (TMSM)
    • OfficeScan Plug-in Manager [OfcAosMgr]
  2. Remove the following from the Add/Remove Programs(if possible):
    • Java 6 Update 14
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (for Trend Micro Security)
    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable
  3. Open Registry Editor (regedit) and remove the following registry keys that belongs to the Trend Micro Security services:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/ActiveMQ4TMSM
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/TMSMMainService
      Note: You can also use the “sc” command to delete the service registry keys. You can visit this Microsoft solution article for more details: How to create a Windows service by using Sc.exe
  4. Remove and modify registry entries:
    Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    Remove the following registry entries:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TrendMicro/TMSM
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TrendMicro/OfficeScan/service/Aos/OSCE_ADDON_TMSM
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Installer/UserData/S-1-5-18/Products/{14B690AA-4527-95F4-6927-B43BC1A35607}
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Class/Installer/Products/{14B690AA-4527-95F4-6927-B43BC1A35607}
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall/{AA096B41-7254-4F59-9672-4BB31C3A6570}
    Modify the following registry entry:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/TrendMicro/OfficeScan/service/
      AoS OSCE_Addon_Service_CompList_Version REG_SZ 1.0.1000
  5. Remove Trend Micro Security files/directories:
    1. Go to the the following server installation folder (default location) and ensure that all files have been removed:
      C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\Addon\TMSM.
    2. Remove the Trend Micro Security installation packages:
      1. C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Download\Product\AddonSvcTMSM.zip
      2. C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Download\Product\AddonSvcTMSMAgent.zip
  6. Modify the Server.ini file
    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\PCCSRV\Download\server.ini.
    2. Set the version number to 1000:
      [Info_462_10000_1_1]
      Version=1.5
      Build=1000
      Update_Path=product/AddonSvcTMSMAgent.zip, ####
      PA_Version=1.5.1000
      Min=1.0
      Max=2.0
      Path=product/AddonSvcTMSM.zip, ######
  7. Remove the Trend Micro Security database files/directories:
    1. Get the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/Instance Names/SQL/TMSM in registry. This value indicates the folder name where SQL server stores TMSM database.
    2. Remove the file from the following location:
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<value of TMSMkey>
      Note: The file is something like MSSQL.X.
    3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/Instance Names/SQL (Name: TMSM, Type: REG_SZ, Data: MSSQL.x)
      1. Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL.x
      2. Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/TMSM
  8. Restart the computer.
