Learn the proper way of installing the Deep Security Agent on the same machine where the OfficeScan client is installed.
DSA and OfficeScan client can be installed on one computer. However, you need to take note of the following conditions before implementing this setup:
- If you are using Deep Security 8.0, then you can proceed in deploying the OfficeScan client program to computers where DSA is already installed in.
- If you are using Deep Security 7.5:
- Install the OfficeScan client program first before the Deep Security Agent.
If DSA already exists on the machine:
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Go to:
- For 32-bit OS: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro
- For 64-bit OS: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node
- Make sure that the Local user permission is “Read”.
Deep Security 7.5 removes this permission on computers that are deployed with the DSA component.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Upgrade to Deep Security 8.0 before deploying the OfficeScan client to computers with the DSA already installed.
- Install the OfficeScan client program first before the Deep Security Agent.
- If you did not meet the above considerations, the following issues will occur:
- The OfficeScan client icon will appear as Conventional when it is actually SmartScan enabled.
- The component version is incomplete when you open the OfficeScan client console.
- The uninstall password will not work when installing the OfficeScan client component via the Add/Remove Programs.
