Summary

The URL filtering can block the HTTP traffic but not the HTTPS traffic in Internet Explorer.
For example, the website http://www.facebook.com is blocked by the URL filtering while the https://www.facebook.com cannot be blocked.

You cannot also block the HTTPS traffic during InPrivate browsing in Internet Explorer.

This issue happens because the HTTPS traffic filtering needs NSC browser plug-in module for hooking.

To resolve the issue, enable the TmIEPlugInBHO add-on during InPrivate browsing:

  1. Go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Untick the Disable Toolbar and Extension when InPrivate Browsing starts option.
  4. Click OK.
