Redeploying policies from Control Manager (TMCM)

    • Updated:
    • 24 Mar 2014
    • Product/Version:
    • Control Manager 6.0
    • Platform:
    • Windows 2003 Server R2
    • Windows 2008 Enterprise
    • Windows 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
    • Windows 2008 Standard
    • Windows 2008 Standard 64-bit
Summary
Use this procedure to redeploy a policy created in TMCM. This is useful because settings configured through the policy are not locked, and an administrator can log directly into the target product and change the deployed settings. These modifications will immediately take effect, and the policy may need to be deployed again from TMCM to the product.
Refer to this scenario as an example:
  1. Another administrator logs into OfficeScan and changes the product's policy back to smart scan mode. The OfficeScan clients immediately revert to smart scan mode.
  2. An administrator creates a policy wherein all OSCE clients from a domain labeled “conventional” will have conventional scan mode.
  3. The administrator deploys the policy, and it is applied to all OfficeScan clients in the conventional domain.

To redeploy the policies:
Option I: Automatic deployment
Wait for the automatic redeployment of the policy, which occurs every 24 hours from the time it was created. For example, a policy created at 2:45 PM will be redeployed every day at 2:45 PM.
Option II: Immediate deployment
  1. Open the management console.
    1. Access the console by doing any of the following:
      • Locally: Click Start > Programs > Trend Micro Control Manager > Trend Micro Control Manager.
      • Remotely: On your browser's address field, type “http(s)://<host name>/WebApp/login” to open the Log On screen.
The hostname is the TMCM server's fully qualified domain name (FQDN), IP address, or server name.
    2. Enter the username and password.
    3. Click Log On.
  2. On the top menu, select Policies > Policy Management. This will open the Policy Management window.
  3. Click the name of the rule to be deployed to open the Edit Policy page.
