Configuring the correct roles before installing Control Manager (TMCM) on Windows Server 2008/2012

To do the proper configuration, click on the Windows Server version that you are using below:

To configure the correct roles:
  1. Open the Server Manager for Windows 2008.
  2. Go to Roles and click Add Roles.
  3. Click Next.
  4. In the Select Server Roles section, select Application Server and Web Server (IIS).

  5. Click Next > Next.
  6. Under Application Server Role Services, select .NET Framework 3.5.1 and Message Queuing Activation.

  7. Click Next > Next.
  8. Under Web Server (IIS) Role Services, make sure that the following default settings are enabled:
    1. Common HTTP Features
      • Static Content
      • Default Document
      • Directory Browsing
      • HTTP Errors
    2. Health and Diagnostic
      • HTTP Logging
      • Request Monitor
    3. Security
      • Request Filtering
    4. Performance
      • Static Content Compression
    5. Management Tool
      • IIS Management Console
  9. Select these additional settings:
    1. Application Development
      • ASP.net
      • .NET Extensibility
      • ASP
      • CGI
      • ISAPI Extensions
      • ISAPI Filter

  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Install to have the necessary roles required by TMCM.
 
If a Windows account will be used to connect to the SQL database, make sure that the account is a member of the built-in Administrators group.

To configure the correct roles, do the following:

  1. Open the Server Manager for Windows 2012.
  2. Click on Add Roles and Features.
  3. Click Next on the Before You Begin page.
  4. On the Select installation type page, select Role-based or feature-based installation.
  5. In the Select destination server page, choose the target server for installation and click Next.

  6. In the Select Server Roles page, tick Application Server and Web Server IIS.

    Click on Add Features when prompted to add required features as a result of installing IIS.
  7. Click Next, and click Next again.
  8. Under Application Server > Role Services, select .NET Framework 4.5 and Message Queueing Activation.

    Click on Add Features when prompted in order to install the additional required features.
  9. Click Next, and click Next again.
  10. 10. Under Web Server (IIS) Role Services, make sure the following settings are enabled:
    • Common HTTP Features
      • Static Content
      • Default Document
      • Directory Browsing
      • HTTP Errors
    • Health and Diagnostics
      • HTTP Logging
      • Request Monitor
    • Security
      • Request Filtering
      • Windows Authentication
    • Performance
      • Static Content Compression
    • Management Tool
      • IIS Management Console
  11. Select these Additional Settings:
    • Application Development
      • ASP.net 4.5
      • .NET Extensibility 4.5
      • ASP
      • CGI
      • ISAPI Extensions
      • ISAPI Filter

      IIS - Application Development

    • IIS 6 Management Compatibility
      • IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility
      • IIS 6 WMI Compatibility
      • IIS 6 Scripting Tools
      • IIS 6 Management Console

      IIS Management Compatibility

  12. Click Next and review the installation settings
  13. Click Install to add the necessary roles required by TMCM.
