Summary
You can manually roll back the pattern files in the Messaging Security Agent (MSA) in cases of:
- High CPU Usage
- Computer crash
- BSOD
- Any abnormal behavior triggered by the new pattern release
Details
To manually rollback the pattern files in the Messaging Security Agent (MSA):
- Stop the Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Master Service service using the Services console.
- Back up and delete the pattern files under the following locations:
Note: The filename is lpt$vpn.xxx, where x = numbers.- ..\Trend Micro\Messaging Security Agent\engine\vsapi\latest\pattern
- ..\Trend Micro\Messaging Security Agent\engine\vsapi\secondary\pattern
- ..\Trend Micro\Messaging Security Agent\engine\vsapi\secondary\pattern
- Open ..\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Download\server.ini in the Security Server using a text editor (e.g. Notepad).
- Modify the server.ini file to use the old pattern as shown below:
Example:Note: Pattern versions are in sequential order.
- Open ..\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Private\component.ini using a text editor (e.g. Notepad).
- Modify the component.ini to use the old pattern in the Security Server as shown below:This is to let the Security Server do the update from the Trend Micro ActiveUpdate again.Note: Pattern versions are in sequential order.
- Restart the Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Master Service using the Services console.
