Details
Public
FileArmor is designed to prevent uninstallation by a user with no administrator or authenticator role in the PolicyServer Enterprise. This cannot also be uninstalled by an end user when FileArmor Policy is set appropriately. As a result, uninstallation is prevented in any of the following cases:
  • FileArmor is installed but not registered.
  • FileArmor is installed and registered, but scratch space has been deleted by a malicious user or failed uninstallation.
To resolve the issue:
  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Mobile Armor\FileArmor\PolicyUpdateCmd.exe.
  2. Replace the PolicyUpdateCmd.exe file with this bypass version.
  3. Run the uninstallation.
If the issue still occurs after doing the above procedure, run the following command on a command prompt:
  • For a 32-bit OS: Msiexec /x FASetup.msi
  • For a 64-bit OS: Msiexec /x “FASetup (x64).msi'
If the above procedure did not work, do the following:
  1. Delete the following registry keys:
Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    • HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{97191000-22D8-4723-A7A9-98810A8FACBA}
    • HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products\000191798D223747A9A8918A0F8CAAB
  2. Run a manual installation of FileArmor by executing FASetup.msi or FASetup (x64).msi.
  3. Replace the PolicyUpdateCmd.exe file with this bypass version.
  4. Uninstall the FileArmor.
If the above procedure did not work, manually remove the FileArmor:
  1. Delete the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Mobile Armor | FileArmor) of the following:
Important: Always back up the whole registry before making any modifications. Incorrect changes to the registry can cause serious system problems.
    • FAService
    • FileArmorService
    • FileArmor
If no Mobile Armor encryption product is installed other than FileArmor, delete also the registry of the following:
    • Mobile Armor
    • MASSO
  2. Delete the C:\Program Files\Mobile Armor\FileArmor folder.
  3. Do the following if there is no other Mobile Armor product installed aside from FileArmor.
    1. Delete the following files in C:\Windows\System32:
      • MAFips.dll
      • MAGina.dll
      • MASSO.dll
      • MASSOFixedLogon.dll
    2. If you are using Windows XP, edit the HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon registry. Change MAGina.dll to MSGina.dll or to the specific Gina you are using.
  4. Reboot the machine.
