Allowing a specific YouTube video through InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance (IWSVA)

Use this procedure if you want to view a certain YouTube video while IWSVA remains configured to block the Streaming Media/MP3 category.

To exempt a YouTube video from being blocked:

  1. Take note of the YouTube video ID.

    YouTube video ID

  2. Open the IWSVA console and go to HTTP > URL Access Control > Global Trusted URLs.
  3. Select the Enable Trusted URLs check box.
  4. Add these URLs and click Trust one at a time:
    • http://*.googlevideo.com*
    • http://*.youtube.com/get_video_info*
    • http://*.youtube.com/ptracking*
    • http://*.youtube.com/stream*
    • http://*.ytimg.com/*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/generate*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/js/*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/opensearch*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/videoplayback*
    • http://www.youtube.com/crossdomain*
    • *<ID of the YouTube video>*

      For example, if the video ID is 0hs8rc2u5ak, you need to enter *0hs8rc2u5ak*

  5. Click Save.

You can now view the YouTube video even if IWSVA is configured to block the Streaming Media/MP3 category.

  1. Take note of the YouTube video ID.

  2. Open the IWSVA console and go to HTTP > Configuration > Approved Lists.
  3. Click Add and then enter a name for the new list.
  4. Add these URLs and click Add one at a time:
    • http://*.googlevideo.com*
    • http://*.youtube.com/get_video_info*
    • http://*.youtube.com/ptracking*
    • http://*.youtube.com/stream*
    • http://*.ytimg.com/*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/generate*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/js/*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/opensearch*
    • http://.*.youtube.com/videoplayback*
    • http://www.youtube.com/crossdomain*
    • *<ID of the YouTube video>*

      For example, if the video ID is 0hs8rc2u5ak, you need to enter *0hs8rc2u5ak*

  5. Click Save.
  6. Go to URL Filtering > Policies.
  7. Click the policy that will use the new approved list.
  8. Click the Exceptions tab.
  9. Select the name of the new Approved URL list from the dropdown menu.
  10. Click Save and then click Deploy Policies.

You can now view the YouTube video even if IWSVA is configured to block the Streaming Media/MP3 category.
