Summary
A potential issue on OfficeScan (OSCE) 10.6 Service Pack 3 Patch 1 has been identified. After updating the Virus Scan Engine (VSAPI), the OSCE client will then download an update from the OSCE server. This may cause unnecessary bandwidth usage and a forced reload of OSCE clients.
Who are affected?
Customers who installed OSCE 10.6 SP3 Patch 1 English should install Critical Patch 5402 before February 11, 2014, the date when VSAPI 9.75 is scheduled to be uploaded to the global ActiveUpdate (AU) server.
Note: The Global AU is used by all countries except Japan.
Customers who installed the following OSCE 10.6 SP2 English hot fixes are also affected and should install Hot Fix 3489 before February 11, 2014. Contact Technical Support to get the hot fix:

Customers who installed the following OSCE 10.6 SP2 Japanese hot fixes are also affected and should also install Hot Fix 3489 before February 18, 2014, the date when VSAPI version 9.75 is scheduled to be uploaded to the Japanese AU server. Contact Technical Support to get the hot fix:

Details
Important: It is highly recommended that customers who installed OSCE 10.6 Service Pack 3 Patch 1 or OSCE 10.6 Service Pack 2 hot fixes apply the appropriate patches before February 11, 2014 (for customers outside Japan) and February 18, 2014 (for customers in Japan).
To address this issue, Trend Micro has released Critical Patch 5402 for customers who installed OSCE 10.6 SP3 Patch 1. Trend Micro also released OSCE 10.6 Service Pack 3 Patch 1.1, which also contains this fix.
Note: This fix is also included in the repacked OSCE 10.6 Service Pack 3 Patch 1.1.
