SQL Server 2008 or 2008 R2 Express cannot use a network service account to create an instance in Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 with domain controller role. Microsoft does not recommend installing an SQL server on a domain controller. However, the SQL installation is not blocked.

As a workaround, do either of the following:

Option 1

This procedure is only applicable to WFBS 9.0 and above.
  1. Install the WFBS server on the domain controller computer.
  2. Download the InstallCfgFile.zip file and extract under the ..\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Admin\Utility\SQL\ folder.
  3. Download then install the TMSM server on the domain controller computer.

Option 2

Install the Security Server and TMSM server on Windows SBS 2011 or lower operating systems, or other Windows 2012 or 2012 R2 without domain controller role. For security reasons, Microsoft does not recommend installing the SQL Server on a domain controller. For more information you can refer to the Microsoft article: Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2008 R2.
