When anonymous logging is enabled the MD5 hash of the user names and IP addresses is displayed. This option allows compliance with data protection legislation in some countries.
To disable Anonymous Logging, do the following:
- Connect to IWSVA using WinSCP.
- Go to the /var/iwss directory and open the intscan.ini file.
- Look for the following:
[Database]
ANONYMOUS_LOG=yes -
Change the value from “yes” to “no”.
You can also use vi editor to edit intscan.ini. - Restart the HTTP daemon:
- Using Putty, log in to IWSVA as root.
- Type “clish” then press ENTER.
- Type “enable” then press ENTER.
- Type the command “restart service httpd”.
The Internet access logs will show the correct usernames and client IPs after a while.
For IWSVA 6.0 SP1, 6.5, 6.5 SP1 and 6.5 SP2:
To disable Anonymous Logging, do the following:
- Log on to the IWSVA web console and go to Logs > Log Settings.

In the Anonymous Logging section, click on Disable then wait until you get a confirmation from the website that the setting has been changed successfully.
The Internet access logs will show the correct usernames and client IPs after a while.
