Summary
Understand why the recommended disk space requirement for TMCM 6.0 is 20 GB and know how it is allocated.
Details
The 20 GB available disk space needed for TMCM 6 usage is estimated based on the following:
- The files that will be used for TMCM installation is about 5 GB. This includes the fresh installed SQL database content.
-
There are 10 major log types that will be exploited by TMCM. By default, most log types contain at most 1 million logs except for the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) logs and C&C event logs. DLP logs and C&C event logs have 500 thousand logs on average. The major log types are:
- Virus/Spyware/Grayware log
- Security Log
- Web Security Log
- Network Virus Log
- Suspicious virus log
- Desktop spyware/grayware log
- Firewall violation log
- Behavior monitor log
- Data Loss Prevention log
- C&C event log
About 1 GB is needed to store 1 million logs for each log type. Therefore, an additional 9 GB is needed for log storage. - For other operations, 6 GB is required for the whole system to work normally. This allotted disk space for operations can be used by SQL or TMCM itself.
