To know view the components used by TMCM and set regular update schedules:
  1. Find the list of components used by TMCM agents.
    1. Open the TMCM console.
    2. Go to Dashboard > Compliance.
The list is under Product Component Status, which can be seen in the lower right section of the window.
  2. Set the schedule of component updates.
    1. On the TMCM console, go to Updates > Scheduled Download.
    2. Select the frequency of updates for component that are in the list that you checked in Step 1. This will enable TMCM to download only the updates of components that are actually used.
We recommend that all component updates be set to "Daily" except the following patterns that should be set to "Hourly". We do not recommend setting anything more frequent that hourly updates for these patterns:
      • Virus Pattern
      • Smart Scan Agent Pattern
      • Smart Scan Pattern
      • Smart Scan Pattern (2.0)
Note: You can also set the updates for TMCM Widget Pool and Policy Templates (for TMCM version 6.0 and later) to "Daily".
    3. Make sure that updates for the following components are disabled:
      • All Pattern Files/Cleanup Templates
      • All Antispam Rules
      • All Engines
      • All Product Programs
    4. Click Save.
TMCM 6.0 SP1's improved download speed enables you to configure TMCM to download all component updates instead of just downloading updates for components that are used.
  1. Open the TMCM console.
  2. Go to Updates > Scheduled Download.
  3. Disable all component downloads.
  4. Set the updates and deployment plan for the following:
    • All Pattern Files/Cleanup Templates
      Update: Hourly
      Deployment Plan: Deploy Immediately
    • All Antispam Rules
      Update: Hourly
      Deployment Plan: Deploy Immediately
    • All Engines
      Update: Hourly
      Deployment Plan: Do Not Deploy
Note: We highly recommend all depoloyments of Engine updates be done manually.
    • All Product Programs
      Update: Daily
      Deployment Plan: Do Not Deploy
