“Permission to access the file...denied” error appears when uploading files to SafeSync for Business online storage

Summary

You receive the following error message when you try to upload a file to your Trend Micro SafeSync storage:

Permission to access the file was denied

"Permission to access the file on your local disk was denied.
Make sure the file is not marked read-only and Trend Micro SafeSync has full access to it."

This issue happens because of the following: 

  • The file is marked as “Read-only”
  • You do not have enough permission to access the specified file or folder.

To resolve the issue, make sure that the file or folder you want to upload has no restrictions:

Step 1: Check if the file is marked as "Read-only"

  1. Right-click the file or folder, and then select Properties.
    Select Properties
  2. Make sure Read-only is unticked on the General tab, and then click OK.
    Uncheck Read-only
  3. Try synchronizing the file again.

Step 2: Check the file or folder’s permissions settings

  1. Right-click the file or folder, and then select Properties.
    Click Properties
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Make sure your username has Full Control ticked to allow Trend Micro SafeSync to sync the file.
