Moving the Security Server of Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) to a new machine

This article describes the steps in moving a Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) Security Server to a new server and retaining the settings from the current installation.

The following procedure is applicable if the version of the WFBS Security Server installed the source server is the same as the target server. If the versions are different, take the necessary steps to correct the versions by either upgrading the source or installing a matching version on the target.

To move the Security Server to another computer:

  1. Download the latest version of WFBS from Trend Micro's Download Center.
  2. Ensure that the new machine meets the system requirements of the latest WFBS version. You can check the WFBS system requirements list from the WFBS Documentation.
  3. Export the Security Server settings of the current machine.

    For Version 7.0

    1. Open the management console.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings > Configure Settings
    3. Click the Security Groups Tree icon or a desktop server group.
    4. Click More > Export. A new screen opens.
    5. If you selected the Security Groups Tree, select the settings you want to export.
    6. Click More > Export.
    7. On the dialog box, click Save and browse to the preferred location you want to save the settings.
    8. Click Save.

    For Version 8.0

    1. Open the management console.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings
    3. Click which group setting you would like to export --- My Company, Server or Desktop group.
    4. Click Export. A new screen opens.
    5. If you selected the My Company, select the settings you want to export.
    6. Click Export.
    7. On the dialog box, click Save and browse to the preferred location you want to save the settings.
    8. Click Save.

    For Version 9.0

    1. Open the management console.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings.
    3. Click  My Company name on the left panel or choose from one of your groups such as 'Servers' or 'Desktops'.
    4. Click Settings Replication > Export. A new screen opens.
    5. If you selected the Company Name, select the settings you want to export.
    6. Click Export.
    7. On the dialog box, click Save and browse to the preferred location you want to save the settings.
    8. Click Save.
  4. Install the Security Server on the new machine using the installation package that you downloaded in Step 1.
  5. Import the old server settings to the new Security Server.

    For Version 8.0 or lower

    1. Open the management console.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings.
    3. Click which group setting you would like to import the setting --- My Company, Server or Desktop group.
    4. Click Import. A new screen opens.
    5. On the dialog box, click Browse and select the exported file that you saved from the old server.
    6. Click Import.

    For Version 9.0

    1. Open the management console.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings.
    3. Click your My Company name on the left panel or choose from one of your groups such as "Servers" or "Desktops". For custom groups you have to recreate them on the new server.
    4. Click Settings Replication > Import. A new screen opens.
    5. Click Browse and select the exported file that you saved from the old server then click Next.
    6. Click Import.
  6. Move the Security Agents to the new Security Server.
