Summary

You used Event-Based Task to assign computer group, automatically activate a guest, apply policy and so on. However, the Virtual Machine (VM) is still not activated and an error appears in the DSM console.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Enable the DSM debug logs.
  2. Go to ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Deep Security Manager\jre\lib\.
  3. Open logging.properties file and add the following lines:
    • com.thirdbrigade.manager.core.triggers.level=ALL
    • com.trendmicro.ds.platform.objects.tasks.AbstractEvent.level=ALL
    • com.thirdbrigade.manager.core.scheduler.jobschedulers.HostJobScheduler.level = ALL

    If after executing the lines above and the following error occurs:

    Key in the log to avoid the error from happening:

     External Computers and Groups may only belong to external Groups

    The log above has one giveaway in that tells you about the folder designation assigned in the EBT.

  4. Remove the folder designation to target the EBT configuration for it to run freely. However, the targeted folder may not exist in DSM because the the domain PC cannot be pushed into workgroup folder.
