Username is not shown in log of discovered malware in OfficeScan (OSCE) 10.6 Service Pack (SP) 3 Patch 1

In OSCE 10.6 SP3 Patch 1:

  • If spyware is detected, the log displays the username, but
  • If malware is detected, the log does not display the username.

You want the log to display the username when malware is detected.

To resolve the issue, edit the ofcscan.ini file as seen below:

[INI_VIRUSLOG_SECTION]
ViewLogonName=1

The default value is “0”. If you change it to “1”, the username will be displayed on the log.

The display issue is by design instead of a bug. If the customer wants to modify it, a feature request has to be submitted to the Core Team. Then, the issue will be handled and delivered to the PM or Product Development Group (PDG) team. After that, the PM/PDG team will evaluate it.
