To prevent the OSCE server upgrade from rolling out to all agents, do the following:

  1. Disable the following configurations from the OfficeScan server:
    • Automatic Updates
      1. Log on to the OfficeScan web console.
      2. Go to Updates > Agents > Automatic Updates.
      3. Untick Initiate component update on agents immediately after the OfficeScan server downloads a new componet.
      4. Click Save.
    • Agent Management
      1. From the web console, navigate to Agent Management.
      2. Select Settings > Privileges and Other Settings > Other Settings.
      3. Select domain-level group (for OfficeScan 11.0).
      4. Untick Enable schedule-based updates on OfficeScan agents.
      5. Click Save.
      6. Tick OfficeScan agents can update components but not upgrade the agent program or deploy hot fixes.
      7. Click Save.
  2. Group the agents using the Agent Management Tree. This allows the admin to choose which group of agents will get the OSCE 11.0 SP1 or OSCE XG upgrade.
  3. Upgrade OfficeScan server to OSCE 11.0 SP1 or OSCE XG.
  4. Login to the OfficeScan web console and go to Updates > Agents > Manual Update > Target Agents and select Manually select agents.
  5. From the agent tree view, select the group of agents that will get the OSCE 11.0 SP1 or OSCE XG upgrade. Click Initiate Update.
  6. Go to Updates > Summary.

Under Notification Status, the number of agents that are upgrading is displayed. With this information, the admin can decide when to initiate the next batch of updates.

All agents must have this setting in place prior to updating the OSCE server. With these settings the OSCE server will not push the scan engine and the agents will not pull down the scan engine. You can upgrade on your own time and not cause any bandwidth issue with all the agents trying to update.
  7. Verify that the OSCE setting to stop deploying program upgrades, components or hotfixes is turned on.
